Dear Readers, it has been a bit of a week over here.
Sunday:
Our combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarm went off several times at 1am. My mom and I didn’t know what to do so we called 911. We waited outside and heard the sirens from far away. It felt embarrassing, but why? Six firefighters arrived and were so damn kind. I apologized for the unexciting house call. They were great. Reminded me that the fire department is one of few social services we have left in this country that actually is helpful and useful and amazing. Thank you Madison Firefighters!
Monday:
I was extremely tired the following day since I barely slept the night before. I worked (my full-time gig), did some writing, some diamond painting, some napping. I think it was 90 degrees (32 celsius!) so I couldn’t get outside and that made me sad.
Tuesday:
July 4th. A truly gross day. Also a bit of an auspicious day for me. It’s an ex’s birthdays (the one who cheated on me, assaulted me, and gave me herpes). It’s also a day that I have previously broken my arm and had a double-ear infection. Thus, I try to stay close to home. This worked out well since it was again a brutal 90 degrees outside. I prayed for rain (as I’ve been doing) since we are in a major drought and it feels very sad and dystopic. I had Somatic Experiencing this day, though, so that helped.
Wednesday:
I saw a dead cockroach at work, switched out my nose stud for a ring, and joined the new social media app, Threads. What a day! It also finally rained! A true proper storm! It felt like I could breathe for the first time in months! It felt like the animals and the trees could breathe again, too.
Thursday:
WFH. Grocery shopping. Attempted to create more outfits for myself so I wear more of my clothing. I have an idea to take polaroids of myself in different outfits and tack them on the wall of my closet so I can remember what works. Someday I will do this. Not this day, though. Got outside for a nice walk with Mamma. Wrote. Rested.
Friday:
Today! Happy Friday! I’m writing this slightly in advance, so I’m not sure what Friday will bring. I have to work, but will also find some time for writing and to get outside if the weather permits. I’ve been dealing with a fair amount of body pain (from the bout of sciatica I experience last August and possibly new things, too), so I finally made more physical therapy appointments. I hope to someday get back to the level of exercise I was once at… but I’m trying to be gentle with myself and not rush this.
If you feel like it, tell me what your week has been like in the comments. I always love hearing from you!
x’s and oreos,
Lachrista

I recently learned about keeping an “Evidence Journal.” This really spoke to me as someone who consistently struggles with noticing when I do things differently.
Not trying to “influence” y’all to buy anything, but I recently learned about magnetic nail polish, and as someone who hates going to get her nails done (too hard for me as a neurospicy grrrl), I’m excited to try this brand. I bought the colors Weeping Willow and Into The Abyss. I shall report back.
Watching “Before The 90 Days,” and I feel so bad for Tyray. As someone who has now been (nearly) catfished twice on Hinge, I’m livid for that man.

Love your updates! This week was chill for me. I also stayed inside a lot because it was super hot in Montreal so the air conditioning window unit in my living room was so helpful! Yesterday I traveled a few hours by bus to see a dear friend of mine for the afternoon and came back at night. It was lovely!
