Kim Kardashian & Her "Best" Advice

Y’all knew I was gonna have to post about this, right? Because ooof.

In a recent interview for Variety, Kimberly Noel Kardashian, Patron Saint of Cultural Appropriation and Blackfishing had the absolute gall to say:

I have the best advice for women in business… Get your fucking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.

There is so much wrong with a rich person telling us commoners to get off our asses and work.

THIS from someone who has reportedly not paid interns and underpaid employees who have worked for her.

THIS from someone who was set up for monetary success the day she was born into a wealthy family.

THIS during a global pandemic.

THIS during a war.

I’m sure she has worked hard at some things, but to act like she did everything herself is a straight up lie. Who are the people creating her shapewear line? Who are the people creating her makeup line? Who are the people who do her hair and makeup every single day? Who takes care of her children? CEOs love pulling this shit.

The fact that she gave this “advice” to other women is particularly brutal and lacks any compassion or understanding of the difficulties (most) women face in the work place. This “boot-strap” thinking is such a yawn and exists only to make rich people feel better about accumulating wealth on the backs of workers.

We don’t all start at the same starting points. Most of us are not billionaires. Most of us are not born into wealth. The road blocks we face are very much real and can’t be changed by working “harder” or more. The obsession with work is what’s killing many of us. The over-identification with your job is not healthy. Nobody should have to work to live on this earth.

Capitalism ain’t cute and neither is classism, Kimmy.
