My dearest darlings,
Happy New Year! Happy 2025! I hope you’re feeling nourished and loved.
December was chaotic and lovely and all of the things! I had family in town from San Francisco for most of the month and I was sharing my room with my mother, so I had no space (or time) to myself. It was great seeing my little nephews (3.5 and 10 months).
My NYE was cozy and relaxing. N and I did a murder mystery puzzle, drank some Martinelli’s sparkling apple juice, made pizzas, ate cannoli, and watched the newest Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie, “Our Little Secret.” We didn’t make it to midnight and that was just fine by me.
I used to put a lot of pressure on NYE and New Year’s Day. I used to want the most raucous party. I used to come up with resolutions that weren’t attainable and often just made me feel like shit. I’m glad my interests and habits have changed.
I’m excited for this year, because my book comes out in March. When I know about preorders and things like that, you best be sure I’ll let you know! I hope you’ll buy a copy or ask your local library to get one!
I’m also excited because I start Death Doula training on January 19th through Going With Grace. From January until April, I will be immersed in all things death (and life, no doubt). My required reading includes: Die Wise by Stephen Jenkinson, Being Mortal by Dr. Atul Gawande, and The Beginner's Guide to the End by BJ Miller and Shoshana Berger. I’m sure I will write about what I’m learning in this newsletter!
More essays to come in 2025! More love! More kindness! More joy! More holding both/and! More outside time! More community care! More reading! More bedroom dancing! More being ok with what is!
Sending all of my love,
Lgxoxo
