Without further ado, here’s what made me rage and what kept me soft this week:
Rage:
Reading:
I continue to be heartbroken, enraged, and distraught over what’s happening in Gaza (and so many other places, as well): Israel’s 48-Hour Raid on Jenin Kills 9 Palestinians, Destroys Areas of the City. When will this end? I have to believe there will be an end in which Palestinians are alive and free.
Gabrielle Bellot writes about waking up trans in Trump’s America saying, “As a trans woman in America today, I’ve become accustomed to being defined first by stories, by myths about people like me.”
Another reason to hate AI: it’s stealing labor and money from sex workers: Inside the Booming 'AI Pimping' Industry.
The “Wicked” press tour is really fucking unhinged and annoying, but I can’t look away. I also just cannot stand Ariana Grande or Cynthia Erivo. Both seem very egotistical and out of touch with reality. Ari used to follow me (she even DMd me a kind note), but unfollowed me when I posted something about Kylie Jenner being a disgusting capitalist. Appreciate that Dazed cataloged The Most Bizarre Moments from the Wicked Press Tour.
Also, I am BEGGING people to stop saying that a celebrity looks great due to their skincare regimen—when it’s actually COSMETIC PROCEDURES, OBVI. Thanks again to Dazed for calling this shit out: Cosmetic procedures are being classed as ‘skincare’ – and it’s a problem. It’s also not due to “sobriety,” which is something I continue to see on Threads re: Lindsay Lohan’s new appearance. Sure, sobriety looks great, but it doesn’t give you face lift.
In not as rage inducing, but pissing me off nonetheless: Don't call it a Substack is an excellent read, but upset me because how could I be so dumb to not understand what Substack was doing this entire time? Of course they want us to say, “Subscribe to my Substack” instead of “newsletter” or “blog” or any other word. When Substack rolled out “Notes,” I was already miffed, because I want less social media, not more (yet, I’m now on Bluesky, so wtf Lachrista?). I don’t know. I have a lot of mixed feelings about all of this. Sometimes I want to leave Substack for Ghost, but I don’t have the funds to do that at the moment.
