This is a beautiful reflection that came when I happened to be writing about similar experiences. I hope you don't mind that I quoted this post on a Medium essay about reclaiming my love of Barbie. (With credit, of course!) What you said about dreaming of safety, security, and reliability....I couldn't have put it into words better. 💕

Loved the Polly Pocket story, a cute toy an a coping tool...I remember my kids having them , more so my nieces......🤗🤗

I had sooo much fun with the late 90s 2000s one. I had those rubber clothes. I had some super cool sets. I didn’t even know the og ones were so different until a few years ago

That’s what I new. I found them to be a nice size for imaginary play and using them in water. I hated Barbie’s and those and American Girl Doll doll types were too big. I liked the outfits and the accessories the plastic ones had like cars. They were girly Play Mobiles

When my parents split, I would use my allowance to buy new Polly Pockets. It was the one thing that didn’t change. Definitely where my love of all things tiny and miniature began, there is comfort in small spaces.
